The International Planned Parenthood Federation Africa Region (IPPFAR) is a leading sexual and reproductive health (SRH) service delivery organization in Africa and a prominent advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights in the region.
Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, IPPFAR operates through its Member Associations (MAs) and Collaborative Partners in 36 countries across sub-Saharan Africa. The overarching goal of IPPFAR is to increase access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services for the most vulnerable youth, men, and women in the region
IPPFAR is committed to providing robust healthcare coverage to its international staff and their dependents. IPPFAR’s mission is to ensure equitable access to health and wellbeing services, supporting its staff through comprehensive healthcare benefits. IPPFAR operates across Africa and requires a health insurance provider with a wide regional and international network, enabling effective healthcare access for staff wherever they are stationed.
IPPFAR seeks a health insurance provider willing to enter into a service agreement covering an initial 2-year term, subject to annual renewals and periodic reviews of terms and conditions. The insurance coverage will be limited to the employee, their spouse or declared partner, and up to three dependent children.
Scope of Work
The selected health insurance provider will be required to offer the following services:
1. In-Patient Treatment
- Provide in-patient care for employees and dependents through a cashless system.
- Cover hospitalization costs up to a specified limit, with maximum daily room rate coverage.
- Access to a broad network of healthcare providers across Africa and internationally to facilitate cashless treatments.
2. Out-Patient Treatment
- Offer out-patient coverage for staff and dependents on a cashless basis.
- Include routine and specialist consultations, diagnostic tests, and treatments up to an annual limit.
3. Medical Evacuation and Repatriation
- Ensure 24-hour emergency evacuation and repatriation services, including tele-medical consultation, transportation, and hospitalization coordination.
- Provide coverage for the dispatch of medicine, interpreter services, legal referrals, pre-trip information, return of mortal remains, and care for minor children in emergencies.
Eligibility
This bid is open to health insurance companies and brokers. Brokers must provide an authorization letter from the insurance company they represent.

Technical and financial proposals as well as the supporting documents must be separate documents (the 2 proposals and zipped documents of the supporting documents).
