Action Et Développement (AcDEV -Senegal)

Action Et Développement (AcDev) is a Non Governmental Organisation for Development Support which has been in existence for 31 years. Today, it is recognised as one of the most important Senegalese NGOs with proven expertise and considerable experience in the provision of community health and the creation of demand at the community level. AcDEV is mainly involved in reproductive health in general, the sexual and reproductive health of young people and adolescents, and the fight against gender-based violence in particular. AcDEV operates in nine regions of Senegal with a national headquarters in Dakar, two permanent regional headquarters in Fatick and Louga and focal points in the remaining regions. AcDEV has more than 104 staff spread across its intervention zones. Since its creation, the NGO has built five health centres, two reproductive health centres for young people and adolescents, a vocational training centre for young girls, 55 rural huts and maternity units, and a mobile RH/FP team. The areas of intervention are: strengthening the skills of organisations and actors, advocacy for RH/FP and the SRHR of young people, IEC/BCC, the sustainability of its interventions through the implementation of income-generating activities and the strengthening of women's economic power. It harnesses evidence and unites diverse voices to spark a commitment to youth-related issues. Anchored in sexual and reproductive health, we advocate for the rights of young people across every aspect of their lives. The organization is committed to the promotion of young people’s access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).  We subscribe to the notion that SRHR education, information, and services should be accessible to everyone in the human rights framework including adolescents and young sex workers, LGBTIQ+, and young people with disabilities. Mauritius Family Planning & Welfare Association

Set up in 1957, the Mauritius Family Planning & Welfare Association (MFPWA) was one of the earliest organizations in Africa focusing on family planning issues. As the nation struggled to find a way to address pressing population issues, a group of advocates formed MFPWA and started to provide services directly to women. Today, the organization caters to the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs of the whole community. It also has particular strands of activity relating to specific groups including sexually abused children, elderly people and marginalized populations on Rodrigues Island.  Through 2 permanent facilities, and a private sector-supported daycare centre, MFPWA’s 15 staff and 550 volunteers deliver services including family planning, the prevention and management of HIV and AIDS through voluntary counselling and testing (VCT), support for people living with HIV/AIDS, infertility management, antenatal and post-natal care, post-abortion care, the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and screening for cancers of the reproductive systems. The Member Association also operates peer-educator-led outreach programmes targeting hotels, export processing zones and popular tourist hot spots.  MFPWA has played a critical role in promoting the integration of family life education into the national school curriculum and its powerful, informed advocacy has been influential in shaping government legislation on SRH, particularly in relation to HIV and AIDS. MFPWA partners with and advises government departments which address health, quality of life, women’s rights, child development, family welfare, social security and youth and sports. MFPWA works with a large number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) including the Mauritius Council of Social Service, the Mauritius Alliance of Women, PILS (People living with AIDS), SOS Pauvrete, the National Women’s Council, the Senior Citizen Council and Link. The Reproductive Health Network Kenya (RHNK) is a network of health professionals within private and public facilities committed to Comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, advocacy and service provision. The network was formed to provide evidence-based information and quality comprehensive reproductive health services in Kenya. RHNK’s main strategic goal is to contribute to the reduction of maternal morbidity and mortality with a focus on the two among other five causes of maternal mortality and morbidity which is postpartum haemorrhage and unsafe abortion. RHNK runs a network of trained Adolescents and youth headed by RHNK adolescents and youth program officer. The adolescents and youth network is effective in providing CSRH information, referrals and linkage to services. With the rising opposition which was witnessed immediately after the reinstatement and expansion of the global gag rule also known as the Mexican policy, RHNK with other civil society organizations developed Strategies to counter opposition. The pool of RHNK trained health care providers to provide SRH information and services, including comprehensive abortion care across the country. Training of the network providers on SRHR Law, policies and communications. The Soul City Institute for Social Justice

The Soul City Institute for Social Justice (SCI) is an intersectional feminist non-governmental organization that is internationally and locally recognized for its innovation and expertise over two decades in Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC).  The SCI’s primary focus is to work with young women and girls (ages 10 – 35 years) to develop and grow as feminist activists and leaders committed to strengthening movements and advancing the broader agenda for the rights and wellbeing of young women.  The institute also works with men and boys as a secondary focus to promote gender equality and the development of feminist allies. The Institute’s vision is to ensure that young women and girls fully realize their human rights in a just society and can live with dignity and self-determination and have the health and well-being to grow, flourish and reach their full potential. It supports and amplifies young women’s feminist consciousness, voice, agency, and activism to dismantle patriarchy, protect their rights and enable their self-determination. The SCI’s programmes operate at multiple levels to influence individuals, communities, and the socio-economic and political environment. It harness popular culture for social change with prime-time dramas and talk shows on television and radio, combined with social media and print, social mobilization, and policy advocacy.  The SCI approach is unique in that it combines multiple-level strategies at scale. Over the years we have reached over 80% of South Africa through our various programmes and our brand – Soul City - is loved and trusted, with two generations of South Africans having grown up with us. At least three communities the country have so identified themselves with our programmes that they have named themselves Soul City. SoulCity count total clinics Nationally. They provide SRH services (teenage pregnancy screening, contraceptives, PrEP & PEP, CTOP, condom distribution, Cheka Impilo (BP, BMI, diabetes), HTS, TB screening. The Soul City Institute for Social Justice

The Soul City Institute for Social Justice (SCI) is an intersectional feminist non-governmental organization that is internationally and locally recognized for its innovation and expertise over two decades in Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC).  The SCI’s primary focus is to work with young women and girls (ages 10 – 35 years) to develop and grow as feminist activists and leaders committed to strengthening movements and advancing the broader agenda for the rights and wellbeing of young women.  The institute also works with men and boys as a secondary focus to promote gender equality and the development of feminist allies. The Institute’s vision is to ensure that young women and girls fully realize their human rights in a just society and can live with dignity and self-determination and have the health and well-being to grow, flourish and reach their full potential. It supports and amplifies young women’s feminist consciousness, voice, agency, and activism to dismantle patriarchy, protect their rights and enable their self-determination. The SCI’s programmes operate at multiple levels to influence individuals, communities, and the socio-economic and political environment. It harness popular culture for social change with prime-time dramas and talk shows on television and radio, combined with social media and print, social mobilization, and policy advocacy.  The SCI approach is unique in that it combines multiple-level strategies at scale. Over the years we have reached over 80% of South Africa through our various programmes and our brand – Soul City - is loved and trusted, with two generations of South Africans having grown up with us. At least three communities the country have so identified themselves with our programmes that they have named themselves Soul City. SoulCity count total clinics Nationally. They provide SRH services (teenage pregnancy screening, contraceptives, PrEP & PEP, CTOP, condom distribution, Cheka Impilo (BP, BMI, diabetes), HTS, TB screening.
