
Nynke Renske van den Broek

An external candidate, Professor Nynke van den Broek is an Obstetrician-Gynaecologist trained in Tropical Medicine with recognised international expertise in global health. She was previously a Professor in Maternal and New-born Health at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Director of the Centre for Maternal and New-born Health. From 2012 to 2016, Professor van den Broek was a Trustee at the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and from 2011 to 2015 was Co-Chair of the Maternal Morbidity Working Group at the WHO in Geneva. She holds a PhD from the University of Amsterdam and has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) since 2006.
Amongst the skills required for the RATC, Professor van den Broek can point to a strong understanding of SRHR and related fields; an understanding of development assistance funding models for NGO; and an analytical mind set. She is from Western Europe, currently located in the UK.
