An external candidate, Tarah Demant has been the Director of the Gender, Sexuality, and Identity Program at Amnesty International USA since 2015. She holds a PhD in English Language and Literatures from Washington University in St. Louis. Tarah was previously a Professor of Women, Gender, and Sexuality/English at Mills College.
